Import Error after Switching to Postgres

I searched for this problem and the only thread I found was archived and did not contain a resolution (b/c the user apparently had a hacked version of PT2).

In any case, I have had PT2 for a while and am finally fed up with Access' slow pace, so I downloaded postgres, followed the instructions for installing, converted my hand database (interestingly, bunches of tournament results did not convert, but I'm not that concerned about that), changed the default, re-started PT, etc.

When using auto-import (Stars), I got the following error message, which was written to the PTerrorlog:

PT Version: 2.17.03f
Error Date: 06/12/2009 16:53
Database Error: 7
Error Text: SQLSTATE = 22P05
ERROR: character 0x8d of encoding "WIN1252" has no equivalent in "UTF8";
Error while executing the query

No changes made to database.

INSERT INTO players ( player_id, screen_name, treeview_icon, main_site_id, hide_ind, ring_player, tourney_player, tourney_hide_ind ) VALUES ( 100325, 'pičo', 1, 2, 0, 0, 1, 0 )
DataObject: d_gr_players_pg
Syntax In Error: INSERT INTO players ( player_id, screen_name, treeview_icon, main_site_id, hide_ind, ring_player, tourney_player, tourney_hide_ind ) VALUES ( 100325, 'pičo', 1, 2, 0, 0, 1, 0 )

Obviously the hand(s) did not import. Is there anyway to tell from this error if I did something wrong? Is there something I need to do? Thanks.

Open the Utilities > PostgreSQL Settings window. The ODBC Entry to Use field should be "PostgreSQL Unicode". If it's not, you need to change it to that and save.

Then, open the File > Maintain Database Names window, click the Add button, enter a description, check the "Dflt" box and in the last field choose "Select existing PostgreSQL database". On the window that opens select the PostgreSQL database again. Delete the OLD entry that was pointing to this same PostgreSQL db. Then click OK to save all changes. CLOSE AND REOPEN POKER TRACKER.
